Reliable monitoring of cleaning and disinfection processes

Validated cleaning and disinfection processes must continue to function reliably in daily practice. Regular routine testing verifies whether cleaning and disinfection processes still deliver the intended performance.

Normec supports medical and dental practices with practice-oriented laboratory tests for hygiene-related cleaning and disinfection processes. These include protein analysis of cleaned dental instruments and microbiological monitoring of chemothermal washing and disinfection processes. The on-site procedure has been made as simple as possible for your practice team; the analysis and expert evaluation are performed by our specialists in the laboratory.

Protein Analysis for Dental Instruments

How reliably are your instruments actually cleaned in daily practice?

With our protein analysis, we test actually used and sterilized dental instruments for residual proteins. This gives you insight into the cleaning performance of your sterilization process. The routine test is suitable for both machine-based and manual sterilization procedures.

You perform the sampling yourself in your practice using a detailed manual. We then analyze the samples in our laboratory using the oPA method and fluorescence measurement. This provides you with reliable results for the regular monitoring and documentation of your cleaning processes.

Microbiological Testing for the Disinfection of Laundry

A reliable disinfection result is also crucial when cleaning practice linens.

With our routine microbiological testing, you can verify whether the laundry programs used achieve the required disinfection performance. The test is conducted using specifically contaminated bioindicators, which your practice team adds to the relevant laundry process according to the included instructions.

After the wash cycle, you return the bioindicators to our laboratory. There, we perform the microbiological analysis and expert evaluation.

Your benefits

  • You regularly verify that hygiene-related processes are still functioning reliably
  • You can perform routine checks directly in your own practice
  • You receive a professional laboratory analysis and an expert evaluation
  • You receive traceable, documented results for your quality and hygiene management
  • You combine simple, practical implementation with specialized laboratory expertise

Frequently Asked Questions Routine Inspections for Medical and Dental Practices

Routine checks serve to regularly verify the effectiveness of hygiene-related processes during day-to-day practice operations. They complement validation and support traceable monitoring and documentation of reprocessing procedures.

Normec offers protein analysis to monitor cleaning performance in dental practices, as well as microbiological testing of chemothermal laundry disinfection using bioindicators.

A protein analysis checks whether residual protein remains on medical or dental instruments after reprocessing. Normec uses a chemical oPA method followed by fluorescence measurement for this purpose.

Protein analysis is particularly suitable for dental practices that wish to regularly monitor and document the cleaning performance of their instrument reprocessing.

Normec recommends a routine quarterly check for automated reprocessing. For manual reprocessing, a final product check is recommended at least once every three months per reprocessing employee.

For testing, microbiologically contaminated cotton swabs are introduced into the respective washing process as bioindicators and then analyzed in the laboratory. The reduction in the colony count of the test organism used is decisive for the evaluation.

Every laundry process or program used in a medical facility should be inspected. After an initial inspection upon commissioning, a semi-annual inspection is recommended. If the results are satisfactory, the inspection interval can be extended to once a year.

The on-site testing can be performed directly by the operator of the medical facility using the instructions provided. Normec then performs the subsequent microbiological analysis in the laboratory.
